"The Cruel Story of Youth" is a drama film written and directed by Oshima Nagisa, starring Kuwano Miyuki and Kawazu Yusuke. The film tells the depressive and heavy love story between the rebellious girl Makoto and the confused college student Aqing. The film was released in Japan on June 3, 1960, and was included in 200 Japanese business cards

In the story, the rebellious high school girl Makoto encounters a danger while hitchhiking, but is fortunately rescued by Kiyoshi Fujii who is passing by . However, in the next day's encounter, Qing treats Makoto roughly and rapes her. Despite this, Makoto was not angry with Qing, and even left him his contact information. However, Ah Qing has not contacted Makoto for a long time because he had an improper relationship with a married woman.

When the disappointed Makoto was drinking away her sorrows in a bar, she was harassed by a few hooligans. Ah Qing arrived in time to rescue Zhenqin, the two reconciled and decided to live together.

However, since Ah Qing gave all the money to the gangster, he was unable to pay the tuition. In order to raise money, he decided to join forces with Zhenqin to blackmail those middle-aged men who are willing to carry Zhenqin. The duo succeeded time and again. However, Makoto becomes pregnant soon after, and Kiyo insists that she have an abortion. In order to raise money, Ah Qing had to have sex with married women again. Meanwhile, the depressed Makoto has a relationship with another man. However, the lovers do not know each other's actions, nor do they know what test fate will bring them.

"The Cruel Story of Youth" takes the painful and complicated love as a clue, revealing the inner confusion and pain of young people. The film reflects the psychological plight and social background of young people at that time through a true and cruel storyline.
