影片中的主人公小男孩儿就是这样的神秘物种，他跟随格斯在丛林当中隐居了十年，对外面的世界一无所知，生性十分纯良。一次偶然的机缘巧合之下，这个小男孩被其他的人类发现了，于是小男孩才得知自己是一个怪物。为了探寻自己长相的秘密，他只身前往人群密集的地方想要探寻一个真相，但殊不知前方的路途更加危险。
