《独行月球》是一部科幻喜剧片，主要讲述袭击地球的小行星来临之际。人类部署的防御措施失败，最后一名人类独孤月在宇宙过着浑浑噩噩生活的故事。
科学家观测到未来将有一颗小行星与地球撞击。为了成功抵御小行星的侵袭，人类在月球准备月盾计划，想要守护下人类居住的蓝色星球，谁知道陨石的运动轨迹发生变化，提前降临地球，留在月球上的维修工独孤月由于意外没能赶上大部队的撤离计划。月盾计划失败以后，独孤月成为宇宙中仅存的人类，丧失一切希望的独孤月在月球上开始了得过且过的生活。在浩瀚无垠的宇宙当中，独孤月向寻找其他的生命做出了尝试，与其他生命的相遇并非完全不可能，影片的结尾也给观众留下了充足的想象空间。独孤月与金刚鼠还发生了一系列令人啼笑皆非的故事。
