该部影片讲述的故事发生在一座小乡镇之中，有着唢呐之王的焦家班掌门人由于年龄问题急需找到一个传承者，将自己这门民间艺术世世代代传承下去，毕竟目前这个小镇只有他能吹出百鸟朝凤这首曲子，能够进焦家班的学子必须品行端正，忠守唢呐艺人的德行，从骨子里做到唢呐离口不离手的原则，为了考验两个小徒弟是否能够担此重任，这位掌门人面冷心热想出各种问题考验他们。
