这是《侏罗纪世界2》第一部的接续篇，侏罗纪世界的骚乱平息之后，搬迁到了努布拉岛上的众多恐龙有了三年多闲暇无忧的时间，但因为最近岛上火山活动非常频繁，有明显有喷发的征兆，这让恐龙们再度陷入危机之中
克莱尔·戴宁（布莱丝·达拉斯·霍华德饰）一直致力于恐龙的保护工作，这一次她更是义不容辞，在收到班杰明•洛克伍德及其下属伊莱·米尔斯（拉菲·斯波饰）的邀请后便启程前往努布拉岛，打算将恐龙们迁往新的栖息地。克莱尔已经受到了感染，她想办法找到了欧文（克里斯·帕拉特饰）跟自己一同前往努布拉岛救助恐龙，欧文欣然应允，因为他亲手驯养的迅猛龙小蓝就在岛上。可是，当他们来到努布拉岛时，却发现这里的情况并没有想象中那简单，而且其中还有不为所知的阴谋气息。
