楢山节考

The story takes place in a remote mountain village in Shinshu, Japan. The village is cut off from the outside world. The village is poor and lacks enough food for the elderly and children. Here, there is a custom: each family only allows the eldest son to marry and have children, and other men can only work, which is called "slave". As for the elderly parents, when the man reaches 70 years old and the woman reaches 60 years old, they will be carried by their sons to Narayama and let them end their lives by themselves.

A Lingpo (played by Sakamoto Sumiko) doesn’t seem to care about her upcoming visit to Narayama She is busy arranging the marriage of her eldest son Chen Ping (played by Ken Ogata). However, Mother-in-Ling still has one other thing on her mind, that is, she is determined to find a woman for her second son Toshiko (played by Michihiro Hida Kitsuhiro) before going up the mountain, so that he can try the taste of sex between a man and a woman. A Lingpo completed all the preparations before going up the mountain, and confidently decided on the date of going up Narayama. With a tragic mood, Chen Ping went up to Narayama with his mother on his back. He felt as if he had become a servant of Narayama God, following the guidance of the mountain god. In the end, Chen Ping found a rock without a corpse and placed his mother there. According to the rules, he couldn't turn his head back and went down the mountain with firm steps. Suddenly, he felt that the sky began to snow, which was exactly the auspicious omen that A Lingpo was looking forward to. There was some kind of relief in his heart. The snowflakes are getting bigger and bigger, and the snowflakes on the top of the mountain are fluttering, and Mt. Nara is covered in silver, like a sacred mountain, silent.
