"Into the Dust" is a drama film directed by Li Ruijun, starring Wu Renlin and Hai Qing. The background of the story is set in rural Gansu in 2011, and it tells the difficult but loving life journey of a rural couple. The protagonist, Cao Guiying, has lived in the home of her elder brother and sister-in-law for a long time. Because of her frailty, disability and incontinence, she was rejected by others. With nothing, she was introduced to Ma Youtie, an older bachelor in a neighboring village. Ma Youtie didn't mind Guiying's inadequacy, so he started farming and raising chickens diligently, and saved money for Guiying's medical treatment. However, when the boss in the city got a strange disease and needed blood transfusion, Ma Youtie was the only match in the village. He donated blood without hesitation and saved the boss' life, but he was burdened with huge debts. In addition, the village began to demolish empty houses for a fee, and Ma Youtie and Guiying were about to become homeless. In order to build a new house for himself and Guiying, Ma Youtie started to build a one-story house by himself bit by bit. However, the good times don't last long, and Guiying's sudden death makes Ma Youtie's world lonely again

By telling this story full of setbacks, barren but full of love, the film reflects the soil-like tenacious vitality and love of rural people in Gansu of great power.
