故事发生在北京这个熙熙攘攘的城市，主人公李琳戴着厚厚的眼镜，毕业后跟随男友郑志远来到这座城市。两人在这陌生的城市里租了个小房子，面对着生活的种种压力，郑志远经常性地加班工作，对李琳的态度也慢慢开始有了转变。而李琳还没找到工作，内心感到又烦又怕，迷茫不安
就在这时，李琳的同学王小娴出现了，她在金融行业工作，让李琳羡慕不已。王小娴带着李琳去喝咖啡，逛街，做一些男友从未带她做过的事情，让李琳感受到了满足和享受。然而，这样的体验也让李琳纠结于男友郑志远和王小娴之间。
在一次因为一支口红而与男友大吵后，李琳决定要改变现状，重新审视自己的生活。她感到内心的纠结和不安，不知道该选择怎样的生活方式。
